If you are looking for an ElevenLabs alternative because you work from Chinese short-drama or comic scripts, start with one fact: there is no separate "Chinese edition" of ElevenLabs. The official site has a Simplified Chinese page, but the product is the same one, billed in US dollars and paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. For English narration, audiobooks, dozens of languages or voice cloning, ElevenLabs remains the stronger tool. For a Chinese script that needs every character cast automatically, per-line emotion, the same cast in Thai, Vietnamese or Indonesian, and payment by Alipay or WeChat Pay, AI Drama Voice is the shorter path.
Who should stay on ElevenLabs, and who should switch
People searching for an ElevenLabs alternative usually have one of two problems: getting in and paying at all, or spending too long turning a Chinese drama script into dialogue. The answers differ.
The first problem is about payment and licensing: ElevenLabs bills in US dollars, its pricing page does not list Alipay or WeChat Pay, and the free plan is not for commercial work. The second problem is about workflow. ElevenLabs is a general voice platform that reads the text you give it. In a Chinese drama script, the "Name: line" format, the narrator, inner monologue, the crying scene and the cold laugh all have to be split out and annotated by you, and a foreign version needs a translation you prepare first.
Summary by use case; ElevenLabs features and payment methods checked on its official site in November 2026.

Can you use ElevenLabs in China? Access, sign-up, payment, Chinese voices
These are the four questions Chinese-speaking users ask most often. Each answer uses only what the official site says.
Access: not addressed, and China is not excluded
ElevenLabs does not say whether its site works from mainland China. Its terms of use (last updated 9 October 2026) list the sanctioned regions as Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria and the annexed regions of Ukraine; China is not on that list. So the rules don't exclude Chinese users, but whether the site loads reliably and how fast it generates depends on your own network.
Signing up through the Chinese site
The Simplified Chinese site is at elevenlabs.io/zh, and its sign-up button opens the same account system as the English site. The free plan needs no card and gives 10,000 credits a month, about ten minutes of audio, which is enough to audition voices. Two limits matter: the free plan is for personal, non-commercial use, and you must credit ElevenLabs. For a commercial drama you need a paid plan.
Payment: no Alipay or WeChat Pay
The FAQ on the pricing page says it accepts credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay; Alipay and WeChat Pay are not listed. Prices are in US dollars, before tax, and a yearly plan costs ten months of the monthly price. For individuals and small studios who pay with Alipay or WeChat, this is often the moment they look for an ElevenLabs alternative.
Chinese voices and the script workflow
The ElevenLabs language list includes Chinese and Mandarin Chinese, and the Chinese site demos voices with Chinese names, so speaking Chinese is not the issue. The difference is the workflow. ElevenLabs Audiobooks can already analyse a manuscript, detect speaking characters and suggest voices, which is close to what we do. It is designed around books and chapters, and emotion is mostly steered by Audio Tags you write. AI Drama Voice is designed around drama lines: it reads "Name: line", narration and "(inner voice)", applies the emotions you mark in brackets, such as a cold laugh, a choked sob or a whisper, translates each line into local speech for the languages you tick, and has the same cast voice them.
ElevenLabs: you bring the text and the translations; it reads each passage well, with far more voices and languages to choose from
AI Drama Voice: you bring the Chinese script; the cast list, emotions, translations, multilingual audio and SRT come out in one run
How AI Drama Voice relates to ElevenLabs
AI Drama Voice calls third-party voice models through an API provider. The default is Google's Gemini TTS, and ElevenLabs Turbo 2.5 and v3 models are also connected, so some voices may run on ElevenLabs models underneath. AI Drama Voice is not a Chinese edition of ElevenLabs, not an official product or reseller, and not endorsed by ElevenLabs.
00:09:46,600Switching
Switching to an ElevenLabs alternative in five steps
Projects you already built in ElevenLabs don't have to start from zero. Bring the script over in this order.
01
Step 1
Copy out the original script
Copy the raw text from your ElevenLabs Studio project. Keep any Audio Tags such as [whispers] or [laughs] for now; you will convert them next.
02
Step 2
Rewrite it as "Name: line"
One line per row, the speaking character at the start. Narration starts with "Narrator:", inner monologue with "Name (inner voice):". This is how characters are detected; see the script format guide.
Tip · Turn Audio Tags into a bracketed cue before the line, e.g. [whispers] becomes (whispering).
03
Step 3
Paste it and build the cast
Paste the script into the workshop and click Analyze. You get the narrator and every character with a voice, plus an emotion tag on each line. This runs in the browser and costs no credits.
After analysis: the cast list shows the narrator and each character with a voice and a line count, every line is tagged with its speaker and emotion, and no credits are spent.Product screenshot
04
Step 4
Match your old casting
If your lead was a deep male voice or a bright female voice in ElevenLabs, pick the closest voice in the cast list. Settle the two leads and the narrator first, then the supporting roles. You can audition every voice in the voice library.
05
Step 5
Tick languages, generate, export
For overseas releases, tick English, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and the rest in the same run. Each episode exports MP3 and SRT per language for Jianying or CapCut. If a line is off, regenerate only that line.
00:09:00,900How to choose
Picking an ElevenLabs alternative by use case
A good alternative is not a cheaper copy. It is the tool that fits your job better.
English YouTube narration, podcasts
Stay on ElevenLabs. Wide English voice choice, fine Audio Tags control, and a free tier to test with.
Daily Chinese short dramas or comics
Use AI Drama Voice. Paste each episode; cast and emotions appear automatically, so your time goes into listening and fixing. See multi-character dubbing.
Southeast Asian versions of one drama

You need a cloned voice
Use ElevenLabs, and get written consent from the voice owner first. AI Drama Voice does not clone voices.
A finished video needs dubbing

Frequently asked questions
The site doesn't say. China is not on the restricted list in its terms of use (checked 2026-11), so in practice it depends on your network. For payment, only card, Apple Pay and Google Pay are listed.
There is a Simplified Chinese website (elevenlabs.io/zh) but no separate Chinese product. Click Sign up on that page; the free plan needs no card and gives 10,000 credits a month for non-commercial use.
The pricing page lists credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, not Alipay or WeChat Pay (checked 2026-11). If you need Alipay or WeChat Pay, AI Drama Voice accepts both; see the pricing page.
No. The free plan is for personal, non-commercial use and requires crediting ElevenLabs; commercial rights start on paid plans. Voice rights and platform rules also matter, see the commercial use guide.
It depends on the script and the deliverable. For English, dozens of languages or cloning, ElevenLabs is stronger. For a Chinese script that needs automatic casting, per-line emotion and Thai, Vietnamese or Indonesian versions, AI Drama Voice is more direct. For Chinese tools, see the Moyin alternative.
No. AI Drama Voice calls voice models through a third-party API provider, Google Gemini TTS by default with some ElevenLabs models also connected, but it is an independent drama-dubbing tool, not an ElevenLabs product or reseller.
