Young Hero
Clear · energetic
● Shonen lead
Bright with drive; esports, battle and school leads.
AI anime voice dubbing isn't really about sounding human. It's about the audience knowing from the first word whether this is the hot-blooded hero, the bubbly heroine or the cool senior. Paste an anime-style script into AI Drama Voice: the AI lists the cast, suggests a voice per archetype and applies the emotion you mark in brackets to each line. Each character keeps one voice for the whole series, a Japanese version can come from the same run, and you export MP3 and SRT.

These are listening examples of common AI anime voice dubbing pairings (placeholder audio to show how archetypes contrast, not output made on this site): a shonen rookie and a cool coach in an esports story, a shy heroine and a deadpan boy in a school romance, and a Japanese school drama.

From character sheet to exported audio, one person can handle AI anime voice dubbing. Anime casts are big and personas are loud, so spend your time on steps one and three.
One line per main character: age, temperament, catchphrase, relation to the lead. For example “Lu Xing: 19-year-old rookie, impulsive, voice cracks when he panics”. The voice archetype comes straight from this.
Format it as “Name: line”, one per row, paste it into the dubbing studio and run the cast analysis. The AI lists the narrator and every character, suggests a voice by gender, age and persona, and applies the emotion you mark in brackets to each line. This step is free.
Use the archetype table below to swap any voice that doesn't fit the persona. Check the tags on attack calls, comebacks and blushing moments; add “(excited)”, “(mocking)” or “(softly)” before a line where needed.
Tip · Play the core cast side by side first and make sure you can tell them apart in an argument.
Tick Chinese only, or add Japanese: lines are rewritten in Japanese first, then voiced by the same cast. Download the MP3 and SRT for each language and line them up with the picture in CapCut.
In AI anime voice dubbing the audience expects something very specific from each voice. Here are the common anime archetypes, what they sound like, who they suit, a sample line, and which AI Drama Voice voices to try first.
| Archetype | Sound | Suits | Sample line (original) | Try first |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shonen lead | Bright, full of breath, line endings lift | Hot-blooded heroes, rookies, school leads | “This round, I'm going in!” | Young Hero |
| Genki heroine | Bright, quick, big emotional swings | Bubbly heroines, childhood friends, best friends | “W-wait! I'm not ready yet!” | Sweetheart |
| Cool senior (onee-san) | Lower, steady, clipped endings | Senpai, coaches, faction leaders, cold bosses | “Why panic? Stick to the plan.” | Elegant Lady, Ice Queen |
| Gentle / healing type | Soft, smiling, unhurried | Kind seniors, memory narration, healing-anime heroines | “It's okay. I've been here all along.” | Gentle Heart |
| Gruff mentor | Weighty, textured, never rushed | Masters, shopkeepers, detectives, fathers | “Brat. Pushing yourself again, huh?” | The Father, Wandering Hero |
| Villain / comic relief | Exaggerated and drawn out, or cold with a smile | Big bads, straight men, comic sidekicks | “Heh. You think that means you've won?” | Cartoon Villain, Ice Queen |
| Child characters | A genuine child's pitch | Young kids, sprites, mascots | “Take me with you, big brother!” | No child voice yet; approximate with youthful voices |
The shonen lead is the most used archetype in anime dubbing, and the easiest to get wrong. The usual mistake is casting an adult male voice: the line is pure fire, the delivery sounds like a meeting. Listen for three things: is the pitch bright enough, do the line endings push upward, does it stay clear when shouting. Tag battle cries “excited”, confrontations “furious” and inner monologue “whisper”, and one shonen voice gets real range.
Anime delivery is less a voice than a way of acting: lots of interjections (“Eh?”, “Ehhh—”, “Hmph”), exaggerated pauses and fast emotional switches. Writing these into the script works better than tweaking settings afterwards. Write a comeback as “Tang Guo (mocking): You call this hot?”, a blushing beat as “Xiaoyu (softly): …was he just looking at me?”, and the bracketed note is matched to the right emotion tag.
About child voices
The AI Drama Voice voice library has no dedicated child voices at the moment. Very young characters can be voiced with the youthful girl or boy voices played light; if a child character is central to your story, use a real child actor or a dedicated child-voice solution.

In AI anime voice dubbing the worst sin is a mid-season recast. One name keeps one voice throughout an episode; note each character's voice and pick it again for every episode.
Excited, mocking, sneer, whisper and choked apply per line, so battle cries and comebacks never come out flat.
Tick Japanese and the lines are rewritten in Japanese, then voiced by the same cast: two versions in one run, plus English, Korean and more if you want them.
Each language exports a full-episode MP3 and an SRT aligned line by line, ready to line up with the picture in CapCut.
AI anime voice dubbing fits work with big casts, loud personas and a fast release schedule.

Voice before the animation is final and time motion and camera moves to the real lines; a big cast doesn't mean booking a dozen sessions.

Vertical skits are fast and dialogue-heavy; the heroine and the lead trade lines, and the emotion tags carry the blushing and the butterflies.
Anime-style Chinese shorts testing the Japanese market can get a Japanese dub from the same cast for a first ad test; honorifics are covered in Japanese dubbing.
Character voice lines, profile intros and mini-skits for characters you created. If you're using someone else's characters, read the copyright notes below first.
Judged on these four for AI anime voice dubbing, single-voice TTS tools suit narration and commentary, while full-cast episodes with per-line emotion and several languages call for a script-dubbing tool that casts characters automatically. AI Drama Voice is the latter; cast analysis is free, so try an episode with your own script before deciding. Plans are on the pricing page.
Tick Chinese and Japanese in the same run: lines are rewritten in Japanese with the relationships in mind, then voiced by the same cast, and both SRTs have the same number of cues so you can check line by line for gaps. Watch honorifics and pronouns in the Japanese version: kohai to senpai, subordinate to boss and between lovers all sound different. Details in Japanese dubbing software.
It can be, depending on what you use. Anime characters, story and dialogue usually belong to the original rights holder, so whether a public fan dub is allowed depends on their fan-work policy and the platform's rules; commercial use raises the risk. A person's voice is protected too: China's Civil Code, Article 1023, applies portrait-right protection to natural persons' voices, so don't try to make AI imitate a specific real voice actor. AI Drama Voice offers no voice cloning; its library holds fixed AI voices.
The safer route
Prefer original characters. For fan work, credit the source, follow the rights holder's published fan-work rules and keep it non-commercial. For commercial use and labelling of AI voices, see can AI voices be used commercially.
Lock the three to five main characters' voices and audition them together before assigning side characters and extras.
Split a laugh-through-tears line into two, tagged choked and sneer; it's far easier to control. More in adding emotion to AI voices.
Put “Eh?”, “Hmph” and “Ehhh—” straight into the dialogue; it sounds more like anime than any setting can.
Record “character → voice” for each series and pick the same voices for every new episode; see consistent character voices.
After generating the Japanese version, ask someone who speaks Japanese to listen to key episodes for name readings, honorifics and jokes.
It depends on the job. For single-voice narration or commentary a plain TTS tool is enough; for full-cast episodes with per-line emotion and a Japanese version, use a script-dubbing tool that casts characters automatically. AI Drama Voice analyses the cast for free, so test an episode with your own script first.
Yes. The AI Drama Voice library has a dedicated youthful male voice (Young Hero) for heroes, esports rookies and school leads; with excited, furious and whisper tags the same voice covers a lot of range.
In AI Drama Voice, AI anime voice dubbing starts with a free cast analysis: paste a script and see the suggested voice and emotion for every character. Generation is charged in credits by character count, and failed lines are refunded automatically. Plans are on the pricing page.
Yes. Within an episode one character name always uses one voice. Each episode is generated separately, so note each character's voice and pick it again next time; foreign versions use the same voice too.
There is risk. The original characters, story and lines usually belong to the rights holder, so publishing a fan dub depends on their fan-work policy and the platform's rules, and commercial use is riskier. Don't use AI to imitate a real voice actor either. Voicing original characters is the safest route.
Yes. Tick Japanese when generating: lines are rewritten in Japanese and voiced by the same cast, and you get a Japanese MP3 and SRT. Two native Japanese voices are also available for Japanese-version characters.
